What an electrifying UFC fight night we have coming up. Matheus Nicolau against Alex Perez? Two fighters that have been making waves in the UFC, and I don’t see that energy diminishing anytime soon. Honestly, when it comes to this fight, I think that Nicolau has a real shot at causing an upset here.
Now, before we get carried away, I do understand that Perez is a formidable fighter. He’s determined to end his losing streak, and the fight with Nicolau looks like an ideal opportunity for that. Could he win the fight? Absolutely. Will he? I’m not so sure.
I’m leaning more towards Nicolau in this matchup. Nicolau, while very skilled, isn’t that explosive. However, Perez is taking this fight on short notice, which means that unless he finds an early finish, he’s likely to burn himself out. Nicolau probably knows that too, and knows that as long as he’s defensively sound early on, he can win this later down the stretch as Perez tires.
Not to mention the fact that Nicolau has been applying pressure on fighters so far in the UFC. He wants to make a deep run, but can’t look past this matchup. I like Nicolau in this one. Let’s see how the fight night unfolds!
